And Alongside Her

From the Classroom to Board Certification

Karina Vazquez Garcia is a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and Co-Owner of KAM Extending Hands, with a professional career that began in education and evolved into behavioral health and Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA).

Karina began her professional career as an educator in Guantánamo, Cuba, where she worked as a teacher in polytechnic schools and at the Higher Pedagogical Institute of Guantánamo. Her early experience in education provided her with a strong foundation in teaching, learning, child and adolescent development, individualized instruction, and the importance of adapting educational approaches to meet individual needs.

After relocating to the United States, Karina continued to expand her professional knowledge and transitioned into the field of behavioral health. She worked for several years as a Case Manager, providing service coordination, client advocacy, family support, and collaboration with healthcare, behavioral health, and community providers. This experience strengthened her understanding of the needs of individuals and families and provided her with valuable experience working within multidisciplinary systems of care.

Karina subsequently specialized her professional training in psychological intervention and behavioral disorders, as well as Applied Behavior Analysis and intervention for Autism and other developmental disorders. Her academic and professional development ultimately led her to pursue certification as a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA).

As a BCBA, Karina has provided clinical ABA services to children and adolescents with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD), developmental disabilities, and other behavioral challenges.

Her clinical experience includes behavioral assessment, direct observation, treatment planning, data collection and analysis, development and modification of individualized behavior intervention and skill-acquisition programs, caregiver training, and clinical supervision of Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs). She is committed to using evidence-based behavioral practices to help clients develop functional communication, adaptive skills, independence, social skills, and meaningful behaviors that improve participation and quality of life.

As Co-Owner of KAM Extending Hands, Karina brings together her background in education, behavioral health, case management, and ABA to support a comprehensive and individualized approach to services. She is committed to maintaining high clinical and professional standards while fostering a collaborative environment in which clients, families, and clinical professionals are valued and supported.

What That Means for Your Family

You Talk to an Owner

When you call KAM Extending Hands, you reach an owner, not a call center or a coordinator you will never meet again.

BCBA Owners, the Whole Picture

Both owners are Board Certified Behavior Analysts. The person who assesses your child is the same person who builds the plan, oversees every session, and coaches your family.

Care That Stays Personal

The practice is small by design, so nothing about your child gets lost in handoffs between providers.
